Q. When did you know you wanted to be a writer and what inspired you? A. After talking with Susan Hirschman at Greenwillow. Q. How do you get ideas for stories? A. Ideas come from my childhood and interest in farming. Q. How long does it take you to complete a book? A. If I write and illustrate one year, illustrations only 3-6 months. Q. Did you have any role models as a child and who were they? A. Glen Lull, Interior Designer- Sylvia Potter, H.S. Art Teacher- Maurice Sendak, Grant Wood, Vincent Van Gogh Q. Do you have any advice for kids who want to write or illustrate? A. Write and draw what makes you feel good and gives you goosebumps that run up and down your back and arms. Q. Do you have any pets or a favorite animal? A. I have had dogs and cats and love all animals. Presently I have my sons cats Pooh Bear while he is in college.
