Fourteen-year-old Ryan Waite really wants to be an actor, but when he messes up his audition for a part in Les Mis, the director tells him he lacks empathy. The next day Ryan is contacted by a man named Burton who is about to throw Ryan into the most difficult role of his life. Burton is a private investigator searching for a man's son, but when he can't find the real son he decides to find an actor to play the part. Ryan agrees to play the part, but soon finds himself struggling with performing the part, and when the truth is found out will he be able to dig deep and find the empathy he needs to get himself out of a big mess?
