Q. I have just written my first book, what should I do now?
A. You might want to join an organization such as SCBWI, they offer conferences and much more for children's writers. "Children's Writer's and Illustrators Market" is a market book with listings of magazine and book publishers and what they are looking for. And joining a critique group is a good way to help you polish your manuscript.
Q. Are my poems and stories safe from theft on KidsBookshelf?
A. Our copyright page states that no one is able to use any content from KidsBookshelf without permission. And KidsBookshelf will not grant anyone permission to use stories, poems or drawings submitted by our visitors. The copyright remains with the author or illustrator. Although KidsBookshelf has not experienced any problems with anyone taking content from the site, it unfortunately could happen without our knowledge. If it does happen and we find out about it we will take measures to correct it.
Q. How can I find a book I'm looking for on a particular topic?
A. The best place to go would be your local library and speak with the librarian in the genre you are looking for. Librarians have a wealth of information when it comes to finding books!
Q. Where can I find the address for my favorite author or illustrator?
A. Find the author or illustrators most recently published book, check the copyright page for the publisher and send your letter c/o the publisher.
Q. Can you send me any books?
A. Unfortunately no, we are unable to give away any books other than the monthly giveaway sponsored on our web site.
Q. How do I submit my poem or short story?

Q. When will my poem, short story or book review be posted online?
A. Poems and short stories that follow our guidelines will be posted the first week of each month. For example, a poem or story submitted in October will be posted the first week of November. Book reviews that follow our guidelines will be posted within a week.
